Christine Vieira (Stylist) new blog called Bright Eye Initiative

I worked with Christine Vieira on a few jobs now and she is so fantastic! Her styling is classic but still edgy and she really works well with perceiving what the client wants and stays on the same page with the photographer aswell. She just created a new blog so check it out www.christinevieira.com/blog/. She blogged about me so I'm blogging about her. She has fantastic work and it was recently her Bday. HAPPY BDAY CHRISTINE!

UPDATES FOR OCTOBER 2009

Ok so a lot has happned in the past month which has prevented me from keep everyone updated on whats been going on.

I was involved in the Drawn to Develop Gallery at the Fermenting Cellar in the Distillery District this month and my piece sold for the second highest at the auction, coming just behind the very talented photographer ishi. There were 43 photographer involved from all over Canada, and we all had to interpret a drawing from a third world country (shown below)

I just got back from New York from this amazing event that i joined. I found out about a company in New York who was holding a session where you get to interview with 14 of the top editors in New York from a list of 60 of them. You had to apply and get approved and then attend a 3 day interview and workshop sessions. The compnay was called NYC Photoworks (www.NYCphotoworks.com)

I immediatly applied and got approved and got on a plane and started interviewing! It was a crazy experience I video taped my entire trip and made a little documentry which I am still editing and will be posting soon. New York is so crazy there is a huge recession with the printed magazine world versus the online magazine world. Many of the photo editors have lost there jobs, which leaves an even slimmer chance for a 20 year old photographer from Bolton, Ontario to make it in New York right now.

The interviews went really good , I got a lot of mixed reviews but the common response of people feeling the emotional connection between my work and the meaning behind a lot of my peices. I was so happy to have the experience and listen to these critiques at this point in my career because everything I am hearing now puts me one more step ahead. I got to meet with 17 editors from 12 different magazines and I am so Happy.

The magazines I met with included : Time Magazine, Forbes Magazine, Details Magazine, People Magazine, People Espanol, Conde Nast Traveller, Redbook, Popular Mechanics, Parenting Magazine, Lucky Magazine , Gourmet Magazine, Mens Health,

I am now just waiting on responses from these magazines and already recieved a few call backs and will be going back to meet with the editors for follow up interviews in December!

Episode 1 of Mathew Guido Fotografi

Hey everyone! The first episode or webisode or w.e will be posted at the end of October. I plan to have an episode at the end of every month. One of the main things that I wan't to do with this is to interview people about concerns they have in the world, and project those concerns into the theme for a photo-shoot. I want to do this so I can use photography as a voice. So if you have any major concerns or view's please get into contact with me mg@mathewguido.com and I will definitely talk about your opinions in the episode!

Thanks!
